Aistė Stancikaitė (b. 1988; Lithuania) is a Lithuanian artist whose practice engages with questions of identity, desire, and the fluid architectures of gender and sexuality. Working primarily with painting and drawing, her meticulously layered compositions employ repetition, obscured figures, and fetish- inflected imagery to explore the body as both a site of psychological inquiry and narrative construction. Drawing on theoretical frameworks informed by Judith Butler, Donna Haraway, and Carl Jung, her work inhabits a space between the real and the imagined, the human and the artificial—foregrounding ambiguity, interiority, and emotional resonance.
Stancikaitė studied Fine Arts at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam. She lived for several years in the United Kingdom before relocating to Berlin, where she is currently based. Since 2020, she has held a series of solo exhibitions internationally, including at Gnyp Gallery, Berlin; The Cabin, Los Angeles; ATM Gallery, New York; and Cuturi Gallery, Singapore. Her work has also been included in group exhibitions at institutions and galleries including Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Aachen; The Hole, New York and Los Angeles; BB Gallery, London; and Guts Gallery, London.
She has participated in several international artist residencies, including the Varda Artists Residency (Sausalito), Plop Residency (London), and La Brea Studio Residency (Los Angeles). Her practice has been recognized with numerous awards, including distinctions from Communication Arts, ADC Annual Awards, and the 3x3 International Illustration Awards.
Stancikaitė’s work has been widely featured in art and culture publications, including Hi- Fructose, i-D, METAL, It’s Nice That, Overstandard and Dezeen. Across her practice, she continues to investigate the layered dynamics of visibility, embodiment, and psychological terrain, inviting viewers into intimate yet unresolved visual narratives.
